Glucose management

Globally in 2003 it was estimated that there were 150 million people with type 2 diabetes. The incidence varies because of environmental and lifestyle factors. In the United States there are 23.6 million people (7.8% of the population) with diabetes of which 17.9 million are diagnosed, 90% of whom are type 2. With prevalence rates doubling between 1990 and 2005, CDC (Center for Diseases Control and Prevention) has characterized the increase as an epidemic. Traditionally considered as an adults disease, type 2 diabetes is increasingly diagnosed in children in parallel to rising obesity rates due to alterations in dietary patterns as well as in lifestyle during childhood.

The epidemic of obesity is now recognized as one of the most important public health problems facing the world today. Tragically, adult obesity is more common globally than under-nutrition. There are around 475 million obese adults with over twice that number overweight – that means around 1.5 billion adults are too fat. Over 200 million school-age children are overweight, making this generation the first predicted to have a shorter lifespan than their parents. D-Chiro-Inositol D-Pinitol

Cardiovascular health

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD), principally heart diseases and strokes, are the Nation’s leading killer for both men and women among all racial and ethnic groups.

Studies have shown that there are various factors which may attribute to the high rate of cardiovascular diseases among minority population. This increased risk is partly due to higher rates of high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes in these populations.

Memory and cognitive support

Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia. It is most often diagnosed in people over 65 years of age, although early-onset less-prevalent Alzheimer’s symptoms can occur much earlier.

In 2006, there were 26.6 million sufferers worldwide. Alzheimer’s is predicted to affect 1 in 85 people globally by 2050. This figure is projected to grow to more than 106 million people by 2050.

The earliest observable symptoms are often mistakenly thought to be ‘age-related’ concerns, or manifestations of stress. In the early stages, the most common symptom is inability to acquire new memories, observed as difficulty in recalling recently observed events. As the disease advances, symptoms include confusion, irritability and aggression, mood swings, language breakdown, long-term memory loss, and the general withdrawal of the sufferer as their senses decline.

Woman’s health – Infertility

Image from PCOS

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common female endocrine disorder, affecting approximately 5%-10% of all females. PCOS is a hormonal disorder that involves multiple organ systems within the body, and it is believed to be fundamentally caused by insensitivity to the hormone insulin. It can be diagnosed in all phases of life – in girls as young as 8-9 years of age, up to post-menopause. Although PCOS is one of the leading causes of infertility, the reproductive aspects of the disorder are secondary. PCOS is not limited to women in reproductive age. DCI seems to have substantial beneficial effects for women affected by PCOS, an observation rationalized by the apparent role of DCI in the etiology of PCOS. In double-blind studies, women with PCOS who received DCI experienced significant benefits when compared with the control group. These benefits were: increased frequency of ovulation, lowered free and total testosterone, lowered blood pressure, increased insulin sensitivity and a corresponding improvement in the glucose disposal.

Physical performance

Those who make constant physical activity, whether for pleasure, health or competitive level, require not only training or physical labor but safe and nutritious food; because not everything we eat contains real nutrients. We use many edible but far fewer nutrients. Diets should include the essential nutrients for the proper functioning of the body. Why athletes use D-Pinitol? The efficient glucose metabolism can improve the storage of glycogen which, ultimately, improves endurance, athletic performance, muscle volume, and post-workout recovery. Therefore Pinitol is attractive to athletes because may help to improve glucose metabolism. D-Chiro-Inositol D-Pinitol
